TI and Altera jointly launched low-cost programmable PCI Express solution
In Electronic Infomation Category: R | on December 1, 2010
Texas Instruments (TI) announced a partnership with Altera Corporation to develop consistent standards for low-cost PCI-SIG PCI Express solutions. The program will use Alteras Cyclone ? II FPGA and D8751H datasheet and the latest TI x1 physical layer (PHY) chip. Bilateral cooperation will help to fully meet the demand, providing low-cost programmable reference design for embedded systems, not only in full compliance with relevant standards, but also take into account the needs of backward-compatible interface. TIs Interface Business, general manager of Dusty Russell, said: "Altera is a PCI Express technology in the strength of a strong partner. We comply with the standard PCI-SIG PCI Express solution will include low-cost Altera Cyclone II FPGA and D8751H price and TIs PHY technology, thus significantly reducing customer costs and D8751H suppliers and risks. TIs PCI Express PHY technology has been used in its PCI Express Bridge and PCI Express 1394a device into, and the two devices have passed certification, full compliance PCI Express standard, is sampling now. " P>
TI cooperation with the Altera solution enables designers to choose a variety of flexible TI PHY interfaces with the Cyclone II FPGA connections. In addition, the solution to meet the emerging needs of the embedded PCI Express applications, including PC peripheral cards, video and image processing equipment and network equipment. Customers can use lower-cost Cyclone II FPGA development for high-volume products such as DVD players, camcorders, monitors, televisions and other consumer electronic devices. TI recently announced the third generation of PCI Express PHY chip, designed for the PC add-in cards, communications, test equipment, servers and other embedded system applications to provide low-cost FPGA products. P>
Alteras business Don Faria, senior vice president, said: "TI PCI Express provided by industry-leading transceiver technology to fully meet the engineer on the performance, compatibility and cost requirements, and achieved obvious success. This and TIs partnership will further consolidate their leading position in their respective fields. " P>
